Voice
Carrier Pre-Selection (CPS)
CPS is one of two ways to achieve indirect voice access. Using CPS the local BT exchange recognises a customer's originating number and directs the call onto another carrier's PSTN network. CPS enables Matrix Communications' customers to utilise their existing exchange lines. Existing customer telephone numbers are not altered. Matrix Communications are then able to provide the customer competitive rates on a single hierarchal billing solution, across all voice lines and numbers.
CPS has largely supplanted an older alternative method of indirect voice access called Least Cost Routing (LCR) for new solutions. LCR required users to prefix their calls with access codes either manually or with use of equipment. With CPS the call routing responsibility is removed from the customer. This increases ease of use for the customer. It also reduces call 'leakage' caused by user or equipment error.
There are certain customers who should not use CPS due to product restrictions. Please contact a Matrix Communications advisor to discuss this further.
